About Dharmini . . .
My personal yoga journey began seven years ago in search of stress relief and muscle toning. When I first started doing yoga, I attended various yoga classes offered in the Ohio area. Shortly after that, a home practice developed, inspired by a wide range of yoga DVDS. Through Yoga, I discovered amazing results and wished share this system of yoga with others. In 2005, I ventured into my first teacher training with Yogafit Systems, which allowed me to instruct fitness-based yoga classes at the Personal Wellness Program, Lima, OH. After this experience, I knew that my students needed more than just the physical aspects that the Yoga Fit style gives, and decided to take teacher training to the next level. In March 2006, I enrolled in a Yoga Alliance approved school, The Integral Yoga Institute located at The Satchidananda Ashram, Yogaville, Virginia. My perspective of yoga was broadened by wonderful teachers such as Satya Greenstone, Lakshmi Sutter, Dr. Amrita McClanahan, M.D., and Swami Kurananda. Upon completion, I received the Sanskrit teaching name “Dharmini”, after the Goddess who bestows and protects righteousness and goodness throughout the Universe. Since then, I continue my study of yoga to serve you better from teachers such as Rodney Yee, Colleen Saidman, Nicki Doane, Duncan Wong, Marcia Miller & Marcia Marcom (Yoga On High-Columbus, OH) and currently working towards the 500hr certification with Swami Asokananda in Virginia.
A highlight in my young teaching career was instructing over 180 classes at The University of Northwestern Ohio in Spring 2006! My Hatha Yoga classes have varied in many settings since 2004, such as my own private yoga studios, churches, YMCAs, schools and even a hair salon to private home lessons that has broadened my experience with many body types, injuries, etc, that ultimately provide you with better service!
As far as my current personal practice, I includes a balance of Pranayama, Integral Hatha Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Karma Yoga, Vegetarian diet, Meditation, and Yoga Nidra (relaxation or the yogic sleep). For fun I like to treat myself to a Bikram Yoga experience and enjoy doing yoga dvds by Shiva Rea.
DHARMiNI's MiSSiON
Yoga has had such a profound impact on my life physically, mentally and spiritually. I wish to share the vibration of yoga with others on the search of deep peace, a higher consciousness and positivism in their lives, despite the hectic demands of today’s society.
Namaste,
Birdella Dharmini Stotts
